Create an AI layer in the GAPTEQ Designer, assign it the desired role, define the output formats depending on the data type and use it to supply the input fields or the independent GAPTEQ components.
1. Equip GAPTEQ components with AI
1.1 Create AI Layer
- The first step is to create an AI Layer for the newly created connection by right-clicking on the created AI service connection or via the main menu - “Create AI layer”.
Info! The AI layer is the counterpart to a data layer when working with database tables.
1.2 Role assignment & output formats depending on data type
- In the AI Layer editor, either predefined or specially described roles can be assigned, allowing the AI's responses to be tailored to the respective requirements.
- In addition to some “Predefined Roles” (Helpful Assistant, Windows Support, C# Programmer), various “Assistant” roles can be assigned and the “Atmosphere” of the AI (friendly, factual, direct) as well as the scope of the answers - “Answers” (extensive, medium, short) can be defined.
Tip! The more detailed the description of the role that the AI is to embody (possibly supplemented with specific examples), the more appropriate the answers will be.
- Under the “Data Types” tab in the AI Layer editor, you can define how the return values should be formatted for each data type (string, integer, ...) of the corresponding input field.
Tip! Several AI Layers can be created if different roles are to be used in the frontend.
1.3. Configure & use AI Layer
- The created & configured AI Layer can now be stored and organized in the Design Objects, similar to tables and views. It can be applied to a component or an input field using drag & drop.
- Each input field of a component that is equipped with an AI layer is marked in the GAPTEQ Designer with a small, blue, triangular marker.
Note! The AI Layer can be used on the AI chat or AI processor components as well as all input fields - e.g. edit boxes or form fields within the Data Form component.
- Further configurations, such as “Start message”, “Question title” and much more, can be defined in the properties of the component or the respective input field under “AI settings”.
- If the AI Layer is used on an input field, the AI chat can be opened in the front end by clicking on the GAPTEQ Assist icon.
Note! You can find out which functionalities you can integrate into your frontend using GAPTEQ Assist in various articles in the category “GAPTEQ Assist - Integration of AI services in the frontend”
