Content Protection

Specially designed repositories or individual contents can be provided with access data in order to protect valuable GAPTEQ know-how. This means that users cannot access, view or adapt the content of the design objects.

In this article you will read the following content:

Activate content protection

Apply or remove content protection

1. Activate content protection

The initial setting for content protection in your repository is “OFF”, i.e. content protection is not active.

  • To activate content protection, go to “Repository Configurations” in the GAPTEQ Designer.
  • Under the first tab “General” you will find the addition “Protection” and can set the initial “OFF” status to “ON” using the “Turn on Content Protection” button.

  • You will be asked to enter a password here. You then have the option of protecting individual pages, data layers, script parts and more in the GAPTEQ Designer by entering the password you have assigned.

2. Apply or remove content protection

  • To apply content protection, right-click on the desired design object (page, data layer, view, script parts, ...) for which content protection is to be activated. Here you will find the option “Protect Content” and will then be asked to enter your previously defined password.
  • The “Protect Content” option is only displayed if you have previously activated content protection in the Repository Connections (see 1.).

Tip! To avoid having to re-enter the password every time you access a design object when editing your repository, you can select the “Remember password during this session” checkbox when entering the password.

  • You will now be prompted to enter the password you previously entered. A small yellow lock will then appear next to the design object as a symbol for the protected content.
  • If you want to remove the content protection for a specific design object, right-click and select “Remove Content Protection”.
